Rival

Rival

Rival was first seen at the GiGse in 2006. The Global iGaming Summit & Expo is a yearly conference dedicated to the US gaming and betting market. It was also the primary focus of Rival in its first years of existence and up to today they are alongside RTG casinos one of the very few still accepting players from the US. Once the laws changed in that market, Rival began redirecting their main attention to other parts of the world, mainly Europe, Asia and Canada.

The main difference to your usual game provider was that Rival developed a download client for its games around which they build an entire casino structure including backend, payment processing and customer support. Most of the casinos in the early years were Rival owned and operated. The downside to the concept was that they could not offer any games from other providers on their platform. Once they opened up to have outside operators running casinos under a license agreement with Rival, their reputation turned for the worse as many of this operators were underfunded or plain rogue. It led to Rival being just a marginal appearance in regulated market as hardly anyone was interested to first host their games or players actually playing them. Which is quite a shame since many of their games are really good and entertaining.

Around 2014, Rival decided to change their focus yet again, although they still kept the download client for Rival-exclusive casinos, but they adapted their games to be integrated on other platforms. The first slots offered were those from their i-Slots series. They are story-based slot machines allowing the player to progress through a storyline while spinning the reels. The stories often mimic a typical soap opera which is filled with an intricate plot of love, lies and deceit. The experience is further enhanced by the reels and graphics being adapted to the current stage of the game.

The realignment of their focus proved successful and today Rival has supplied their games to over 50 casinos in 11 countries. Their portfolio is nearing 300 titles in a variety of reel formats, that appeal to all kinds of players. Some of the best known multi-platform brands listing Rival games are SlotsMillion, Videoslots, Vivo Gaming and white-label platform provider White Hat Gaming.

A great example of their i-Slots series is As The Reels Turn, which is based on the fictional casino of El Paradiso. Players are witnessing the lives of the portrayed characters, experience the plotting and evilness of the villains and follow the heroes’ attempts to save the day, all whilst playing a standard 5×3 video slot with 15 pay lines.
