Get ready for another rock concert on slot reels courtesy of Play’n GO. Black Mamba is after Sabaton and Demon the third branded slot in 2019 that has been dedicated to a heavy metal band. After Sweden and the UK, the creative team is taking us to Italy for a new dose of headbanging tracks from newcomer band Black Mamba. Hitting the international stage in 2017 only, the 4-piece left a lasting impression on the music fans at the Sweden Rock Fest and has since toured throughout Europe while also releasing two albums.
The band will give their best reel performance with four Solo featues, progressive multipliers, a Concert bonus and a free spins round that can lead to wins of up to 5,000 times your bet.
Black Mamba is a 5×5 grid slot with cascading symbols. Wins are awarded for clusters of three or more symbols in a row, horizontally or vertically. Winning symbols are removed after the win is paid, and the remaining drop down to possibly form new wins.
You can headbang to the rock tunes of the Italian band on desktop or mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has maximum volatility (10/10) and a default RTP of 96.50%. Some operators might choose the secondary RTP setting of 94.50%, always check the help files to find out which version you will be playing.
A wall in black and white with paintings, posters and other artistry is in the background of the game window. The square game grid is flanked on one side by the active band member and on the left by the well-known displays for charge meter, win count and multiplier as seen on similar games such as Rise of Olympus.
The pay symbols start at the low end with band items – microphone, headphones, a guitar pick and drum sticks – awarding 1x to 1.5x your bet for a five of a kind. They are followed by Alexandra, Cecilia and Fred. Hit five on the grid to win 5x your stake. Any combination of the three members will pay 3x the bet.
The game has two wild symbols. The standard wild is the band logo, appearing after 3-symbol combos removals only. It pays 25x your bet when five appear on row or reel. Martina is the second wild, she will multiply any wins by x2 as long as she is part of the combo. She’s also the top payer with 50x your stake.
Somebody at Play’n GO has clearly a faible for rock and heavy metal bands. And that mainly for not the most mainstream artists as the previsouly released Sabaton and Demon slots demonstrate. Nothing wrong to bring such bands into casino lobbies as it gives them added popularity. Black Mamba is a relatively new group that set out in 2017 to bring Italian-made rock music to the world stage.
For Black Mamba, the designers chose a grid layout that we have seen before on slots such as Moon Princess and Rise of Olympus. A total of 25 symbols drop onto the reels at the start of a spin with the aim to charge the Concert meter for an impressive display of the Solo features from each band member or better clear the grid to trigger the free spins.
Three or more adjacent symbols, horizontally or vertically, award a win similar to a three to five of a kind on a normal reel slot. Any winning combos are removed and the remainder of the symbols drops down to fill the empty spaces. A wild symbol will appear in the middle of a win with three symbols after they are removed. It will disappear again if it is part of a winning combo on the next drop. Plus, the progressive win multiplier will increase by x1 with each new drop within a single spin sequence. It will reset before the next game round.
Each band member is associated with a Solo feature than can trigger randomly after a non-winning spin in the base game. They will activate after each non-winning spin in the free spins round. The active band member stands on the right of the game window and will change after the member awarded his or her Solo feature.
The Charge meter on the left is filled by hitting wins with Alexandra, Cecilia and Fred symbols, however, wilds do not contribute to the meter. It has six sections and is filled by one for each winning character symbol. Four charges will activate the Concert bonus, and six will overcharge it. The benefit from the overcharge is that the accrued multiplier from the triggering round will be carried over into the Concert feature.
If the Concert bonus is activated, consecutive Solo features play one after the other in the order Alexandra – Cecilia – Fred – Martina. When there are no further wins after a drop, a band member performs the Solo and the game continues. This sequence is repeated until all Solos have been performed. The active band member on-screen changes when the Concert ends.
Clearing the entire grid either in the base game or in the Concert bonus activates the Free Spins feature. It will also trigger if only wild symbols are left on the bottom row after the last drop. The active band member plays the Solo on each non-winning spin while Martina will play it on every free spin. The win multiplier resets between rounds to the number carried over from the activating spin but can grow with no limit in a free spin.
The free spins can be retriggered by charging the meter with the same rules as in the base game. An overcharge of six symbols awards +4 spins and 4 – 5 charges award +2 free spins. the Concert feature can be activated during free spins and clearing the full grid awards an instant coin win of 50x total bet.
Black Mamba is yet another entertaining and well-designed game from the grid slot specialist. Anyone having some knowledge or online gaming experience will probably have tried them at some point. Most popular must be Reactoonz but others mentioned in this reviewed have been also well received in the casino community. Beware though as it is rather volatile, so some caution on the bet size is recommended.
