The Astro Cat is on the loose again on the slot from Lightning Box, this time in an upgraded version featuring the SkyWeel from Incredible Technologies. Astro Cat Deluxe is the first release under a cooperation agreement signed by the two developers who are more popular in land-based casino than at online establishments.
The ReelFecta reel set has been kept together with the Wild Cat Respins feature, while four fixed jackpots have been added that can be won on the Sky Wheel and are worth up to 4,000 times your stake.
Astro Cat Deluxe is a video slot with two reels on each side of the ReelFecta reel and 1,296 ways to win. The Reelfecta is a patented slot reel with 16 positions and replaces the usual third reel on a normal slot. Any symbol within the reel can complete a winning combination. A Reelfecta with 16 matching symbols will pay 16 times the win if the symbols on the front reels match those inside the special reel. The bet sizes range from 0.50 to 50 credits per spin. The medium variance game has an RTP of 95.46%.
A blurry scene from a Asian metropolis is the background to the giant game window. The display for the four fixed jackpots as well as the Sky Wheel are placed on each side while the reels itself are dominated by typical Asian items. The serene soundtrack fits into the theme.
Open the game to find the card royals from 9 through to A at the low end, paying 0.5x to 0.8x your bet for a five of a kind. They are followed by Asian paper fans, bonsai trees, goldfish, green frogs and dragons. Hit five across the reels to win 1.5x to 5x your stake.
The Astro Cat is the wild symbol appearing on the ReelFecta reel only and substituting for all symbols bar the scatters. Those appear as well only on the patented reel, but will do so on the 12 outside positions.
Central to the game play is the Sky Wheel, a signature feature from Incredible Technologies. You will need to land minimum five scatters in one spin to trigger the feature. It will move to the centre of the screen and will get you initially one spin on the outer wheel. The possible prizes are:
The original Astro Cat slot is one of the more popular titles from Lightning Box. Hence, giving it the IT upgrade with the Sky Wheel shouldn’t be a bad thing. However, the game becomes quite a drag as the wheel stops far too often on a coin win, which means that after waiting sometimes hundreds of spins for five scatters to land we walked away with less than 10x our bet from the wheel.
Once we got the respins, it then mostly spun poison in on the fourth or fifth respin, far from anything that would make it a decent respin streak. And getting to the Mega Spin is not guarantee for a win either as you will need to land matching symbols on the two front reels. Not really something to look forward to.
