The heroic hog is making a third appearance on the slot form Blueprint Gaming. The Pig Wizard Megaways is the sequel to the 2015 original game that although packed with features and modifiers hasn’t seen people rushing in droves to spin the reels as it came with a very low RTP. The second creation was released in 2018 featuring the progressive Jackpot King which had an even lower return to player.
That not so minor detail has been somewhat corrected on the Megaways version, which should make it more appealing to the playing community. Certainly helpful is again the flurry of features with multiple random modifiers, a Mystery Mirror leading to a Win Streak and a free spins round that awards a random multiplier of up to x50 on each spin. Together, they can lead to wins of up to 10,000x your bet or 250,000 credits, whichever is hit first. Well, the second is a Blueprint-typical limit but won’t matter on this slot as the maximum bet is just 10 credits.
The Pig Wizard Megaways is a video slot with six reels, up to five rows and up to 15,625 ways to win. The number of ways from 64 to the maximum is randomly determined for every spin by selecting between two and five pay symbols for every reel. Pays are then awarded for two to six matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right only. Enter the world of the witty wizard on desktop or mobile devices from 0.10 to 10 credits per spin. The game has medium to high volatility with a default RTP of 95.75%.
Not only the RTP saw an improvement on this latest iteration of the mythical hog story but also the visuals and graphics are a big leap forward compared to the original. Welcome to a purple fantasy wonderland with the wizard’s castle on a full moon night in the background of the heavily ornamented game window. So heavily that it almost looks tacky. An enchanted soundtrack keeps things lively while wizard items provide the main part of the pay symbol set.
Speaking of pay symbols, they start at the low wend with the forever and ever used card royals from 9 through to A, giving you 0.5x to 1x your bet when six land across the reels. The premiums are a magic tome, a treasure chest, the wizard’s hat and the wizard himself on a golden tile. A single six of a kind pays 2x to 10x your stake.
A purple icon marked with the word itself is the wild symbol, appearing on reels two to six only and substituting for all regular pay symbols. The wizard on a blue tile is the scatter in the base game, which is changing to red in the free spins. Purple crystal balls act as the mystery symbol.
If you played Blueprint slots odds are you came across the feature frenzy that is at the centre of the action on most of their creations. A mix of bonus and random features make the games entertaining and keep the suspense level elevated throughout a session. No surprise to see that they kept to the script on the Megaways sequel.
At the core of the gameplay in the base game and free spins is the Mystery Mirror tacked to the game window on the left. It can randomly trigger a selection of three modifiers on any spin.
Hitting three to six scatters will trigger 10 to 20 Magic Spins, which can be retriggered when minimum two scatters land on a free spin. Two to six scatters will add 5 to 25 free spins to the count, no limits. During the feature, a multiplier window appears on the right (desktop) where a random win multiplier from x2 to x50 will be displayed on every free spin. Not to forget, the three modifiers can trigger during the free spin too. Overall, you can win up to 10,000 times your bet in a bonus round.
Seeing the announcement for The Pig Wizard Megaways had me thinking that we might see something completely new or maybe I was just expecting too much. Instead, Blueprint recycled features from other Megaways games and crammed into this slot, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing as they can all end with mega wins. Still, one would hope that once in awhile we get to experience something totally unseen.
Nevertheless, The Pig Wizard Megaways is an entertaining game with the witty hog adding an element of humour and sarcasm to the reels. The win potential is nothing special, not bad and not overly great. 10,000 times the bet is rather standard for Megaways games.
