Delve into Greek mythology on the slot from Blueprint Gaming. According to the tales, Medusa is a female Gorgon with venomous snakes on her head instead of hair. Legends have it that anyone caught by her gaze would turn instantly into stone. On this game though, she will turn pay symbols into wilds that can lead to wins of up to 2,000 times your bet.
Medusa is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 10 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for two to five matching symbols on a line from left to right only. You can delve into Greek mythology on desktop, mobile or tablet from 0.10 to 25 credits per spin. The game has medium to high volatility with an RTP of 96.40%.
An eerie dark scene with a purple hue is in the background of the game window that is held in the remnants of an ancient Greek temple. Medusa appears as a cartoon-style figure that looks rather out of place considering the legends surrounding the monstrous Gorgon. An orchestra piece is trying hard to create some sort of suspense which flies instantly out of the window when the childish-looking Medusa lands on the reels.
On the reels you will find the card royals from 10 through to A at the low end of the paytable, awarding 10x to 20x your stake for a single five of a kind. They are followed by a Parthenon, an ancient Greek amphora, a pair of crossed swords and a warrior helmet. Hit five on a line to win 25x to 100x your bet.
A trio of snakes marked with the word itself is the wild symbols, substituting for all regular symbols. Two, three, four or five will pay 1x, 10x, 50x and 200x your stake respectively. Medusa herself is the scatter appearing on reel three only.
The game would not have been worthy of a full review as the standard play is simply boring. Add to that the rather tame graphics as well as sounds and it looks like a Blueprint team of interns were responsible for the design while the main team went away for their summer holidays. There is one feature though that rescues Medusa from a total failure.
On any spin, Medusa can land on reel three. She will then turn up herself and one or two regular pay symbols into wilds. All in view on the spin will become wild symbols for the current spin, providing more chances to hit a big win. Filling up the screen with wilds would pay the maximum win of 2,00 times your bet.
Lately, we’ve been spoiled by Blueprint Gaming with either feature-rich slots such as Thundercats: Reels of Dundera or thrilling Megways games. Hence, the disappointment with this creation as it just does not feel like it is coming from the same studio. Mythology fans might be enticed to give a spin for the name’s sake but I for one will not add it to my favourites list.
